How A Real Woman Transitions From A Large Firm to a Solo Gig #2–1/20/09

truetales6Be inspired by Angela, who made great strides in the past week!  She reports her progress:angela2

  • I solidified the contract for my new office space and began organizing my new office.
  • I hired a part-time legal assistant.
  • I spoke to a consultant regarding building and optimization of my law firm website.
  • I obtained two new clients. One is a large non-profit organization.  I will be assisting them in overhauling their human resources and employee relations infrastructure.  The other is a small restaurant/caterer who is retaining me to provide advice and counsel on personnel and labor law matters as needed.
  • I also found time for civic activities – I participated in the “National Day of Service” collecting food for a food bank.  I also participated in the Kingdom Day Parade in celebration of Dr. King’s Birthday. This is part of the reason I returned to my own practice – so I could carve time out for my political and civic life.

Do you have any questions or thoughts to share with Angela?  Are you comtemplating any major transitions this year?
